FAQ

What is a Unix timestamp?
A Unix timestamp is the number of seconds (or milliseconds) elapsed since 00:00:00 UTC on January 1, 1970 — the Unix epoch. It is timezone-independent, which makes it the standard way computers represent time.
How do I tell if a timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?
Count the digits: 10 digits usually means seconds (valid from 2001-09-09 to 2286), while 13 digits means milliseconds. This tool auto-detects the unit by default, and you can also set it manually.
Does the converter depend on my timezone?
The timestamp itself is absolute UTC time. When converted to local time it uses your device's timezone; the page also shows UTC time for comparison.
Is my data uploaded during conversion?
No. All conversions run locally in your browser. Nothing you type or paste is sent to any server.
